A global packaging manufacturer partnered with us to recruit a Human Resources Manager for their site in Glasgow. This was a vital appointment to sustain the site’s outstanding employee engagement scores and ensure continued operational excellence. The role was central to fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting strategic HR initiatives.

Recognising the critical nature of this hire, we managed the project as a retained assignment. This allowed us to leverage the company’s employer brand in a targeted advertising campaign, including bespoke content designed to attract top-tier HR professionals. One of the key challenges was sourcing candidates with both strong HR leadership experience and a deep understanding of manufacturing environments.

From the outset, I cannot fault their approach, diligence and professionalism. Elaine and Louise understood fully the sensitivities around the situation, and really sought (and I believe succeeded) in understanding what the Senior Team would be looking for in the role.

Ultimately, the effectiveness of any recruitment process is the strength of the short list, and it was a genuinely tough decision for us to make.
